✅ Your 2020 Orlando bucket list

Today’s how to: 2020 Bucket List

Want to jumpstart your plans for the new year? Let’s help you out.

Earlier this month, we asked you to share your ideas for a 2020 bucket list of great Orlando to-do’s, and today we’re sharing those top tips right back…

We broke out our bucket list items into three groups — things to do around town, things to enjoy in the great outdoors, and things to eat and drink (with a bonus group on how to get involved in our community) — and gave a shout-out to the reader who passed along the recommendation.

Add to your to-do list

🎟 Spend a night at the museum. “Visit the Orange County Regional History Center at least once.” —Sawn Medrano and “Spend some time at the Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of Art.” —Linda Nusbaum

🛍 Shop local. “Support local businesses,” says Sarah Elbadri. And Swan City took it a step further, adding, “Buy more Swan City 🤷‍♂️.”

☕️ Check out our local coffee scene. And support a good cause while you’re at it. “Orlando Cat Cafe! Come visit with cute and cuddly cats and kittens which are all up for adoption. Enjoy a cup of Axum coffee and help a worthy cause!” —Rita Schreier

🎭 Enjoy the performing arts. Be a part of the audience or take a comedic acting class at local places. Brittan Kempinger recommends Sak Comedy Lab.

🕯 Be a tourist for a day. Make use of what’s in our own backyard. Katie Shook suggests checking out the Candlelight Processional at Epcot every year.

Get outside

🚲 Go two wheels, but pack a helmet. “Ride (your) bikes more!” —Brendan Bunting O’Connor

🦢 Have yourself a real Orlando day. “Go to a farmers market, visit a local brewery, ride a swan.” We assume Cliff Shepard means ride a swan boat. Riding a swan lands you in jail. LOL.

🐓 Shop local farmers markets. “Visit all farmers markets in different areas — Lake Eola, Winter Park, Winter Garden, etc.” —Adly Santiago.

✈️ Be adventurous. “Go skydiving at SkyDive DeLand and then celebrate after with a beer at the Perfect Spot bar and watch other jumpers soar in.” —Justin Stamper.

Expand your food and drink horizons

🍲 Eat some hot pot. “Juicy pot in pine hills across from Caribbean grocery store.” —Leslie Granato

🍷 Break bread with your community. “Come to The Dinner Party Project in 2020!” —Dana Roquemore

🍸 Cheers to hip gathering places. “Have drinks at the Wellborn!” —Kellie Woods

Bonus: (Let’s) Get civical, civical.

🤝 Get to know local leaders. “Meet their local representatives. Orlando has some awesome people in our corner!” —Kyla Rene

🗳 Get your butt to the polls. “V O T E!” —Melissa Marie and Doug Howell

🗣 Better your community. “Foster a pet, help one homeless person, take one person with you to vote, support local politicians who have a solid plan to address the housing crisis.” —Carla Dodges Song

🏡 Read up on the housing market. “Consider changing the way (you) look at real estate.” —Viviana Katz

Thanks to everyone who sent us nominations and made it so hard to choose. Here’s to a great 2020, Orlando!

One more thing…

One bucket list item you can check off tonight: Enjoying a night at the museum.

It’s New Year’s Eve and if there’s one party we had to go to year after year, it’d be the end of year party at the Orlando Museum of Art. Tonight, they’re taking it back to the roarin’ twenties and a) everyone will surely look like a million bucks, and b) the ticket price includes an open bar, fireworks, food, champagne at midnight, a jazz band, performers, AND you have access to the gallery.

Our backup recommendation? The Great Gatsby New Year’s Eve party at Enzian. For something a little less fancy, we suggest checking out The Legendary JC’s NYE event at Will’s Pub followed by some late night eating at Tako Cheena.

Or better yet, spend the night cozy, safe, and saving money on your couch. We may or may not be doing the same. 🙃

See you next year (and next decade), Orlando!
