🌽 Where to eat soul food this weekend

It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood. | Tag #pulptown to be featured in our Instagram of the day.

What Orlando is talking about

There’s another tropical storm brewing off our coast this week and somehow it just feels right that it’s named “Karen”.

At first, she didn’t really want to be about anything, was more of a “hi, I’m going to stop by for a bit, complain (rain) about something and head out” in Puerto Rico earlier this week. But by yesterday afternoon, she was strengthening and toying with heading north to the Bahamas and possibly Florida.

As of last night, Karen decided to calm down a bit and the jury’s still out on whether we will feel any effects from her.

Meanwhile, Karen’s other buddy in the Atlantic, Lorenzo, is predicted to become a hurricane — we just won’t be impacted because it looks like it’s heading west and staying out to sea.

In other news…

Tyler, the Creator is coming to UCF this weekend, and he’s bringing Jaden Smith with him. Tyler is promoting his latest album, Igor, at Addition Arena Friday night and tickets are still available. (Orlando Weekly)

Speaking of this weekend’s endless entertainment, comedian Dane Cook is hoping for a comeback on his latest tour. He’s performing at the Dr. Phillips Center Friday night at 7:30 p.m. (Orlando Weekly)

But the best of all weekend plans is probably the Soul Food Festival happening at Eagle Nest Park in Metrowest on Saturday and Sunday. There will be 15 food trucks slinging collard greens, fried chicken, mashed potatoes and more. (Orlando Weekly)

Last year, the owners of Church Street Station conducted a survey asking Orlandoans what they wanted to see in the Ferg’s Depot space. The website was called MakeOrlandoGreat.com and the offerings ranged from Soul Cycle to Chickfila to an Amazon store. A Chelsea Market concept was what Orlando voted for most, but the owners are staying mum about any developments at this time. (Bungalower)

Grab your lederhosen and dirndls, Oktoberfest has arrived in Central Florida and is in full effect this weekend at both Hourglass Brewing locations. (Bungalower)
