🎁 Hey Orlando, making it on the knotty or nice list this year?

🎁 PULPTOWN GIFT GUIDE VOL. 1

Something sentimental. Put Fido’s face on a personalized Christmas ornament or grab a map print of your favorite neighborhood from Do Tell Caligraphy and Designs. Or head over to Lake Fair Lane for a custom line art print of your childhood home — your mom is bound to eat that sh*t up — or the Publix where you first met your wife while waiting in the agonizing Pub-sub line.

For those on your knotty list (pun intended), these macrame keychains by Sara Blache of Find Your Fiber or one of her wall hanging dreamcatchers would be a great gift for your friend with great interior style. Spice up your front porch or bedroom wall with Macrame Momma’s colorful hanging plant holders and Every Other Weekend’s wood, floral and macrame hangers.

For the Ron Burgundy on your list, this tan leather watch band looks great and smells like rich mahogany. Our personal favorite, the “grey Semoran cardholder” by Freehand Goods oughta do the trick. If the smell of leather makes him swoon, 12 Degrees West has a burgundy card wallet for sale. Either one is a win if it finally makes him ditch the 12-year-old velcro wallet he’s had since senior year of high school.

Pins and Needles. The campfire lapel pins by Secret Society Goods are the missing piece to your denim jacket. Or you can opt for the pick three pins combo from Just Okay Things, which includes our personal favorite: the“It’s ok to just be okay” pin.  As for needles, the Coconut La Croix planter by Hello Happy Plants is the ultimate choice in the hip succulent holders category.

Looking for something more whimsical? The eggplant and peach watercolor hex coasters by Lemesto Art and calendars by Brandelane will surely win compliments from future dinner party guests.

Unsuspecting packaging: Deli Fresh Threads nails the packaging by delivering the freshest tees in sandwich form.

Wanna shop in one stop? Catch-all stores like Misc. Market + East End Market + The Heavy are good places to shop — each carries a few of the different brands above.

Looking for a unique way to package it all? Check out Ashton Ink — she makes personalized holiday wrapping paper and table runners.

WHAT'S GOING DOWN IN PULPTOWN?

The State of Downtown.  On Thursday, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer delivered the 2018 State of Downtown address. He talked of the economic impact that UCF Downtown campus and Creative Village will bring to downtown, the $12 million the city has invested in housing in the Parramore community and the new businesses opening there, the successes of the Downtown Ambassador Program and the 339 chronically homeless individuals who have been placed in permanent housing, and the future of downtown as a hotel and conference destination. (Orlando Business Journal)

The end of an era.
After a 15-year run, Windermere Mayor Gary Bruhn has resigned from his position and will be moving just outside of town— the 66-year-old will remain in office until his address officially changes in the coming year. Notable moments of his time in office include a corrupt police chief scandal and Tiger Woods’ infamous car crash in 2009. (Orlando Sentinel)

He’s got the magic touch. That’s what we’re hoping to say about Steve Clifford, the new head coach for the Orlando Magic. Fans can learn all about Clifford’s journey to the Magic bench by tuning in to a brand new episode of “Inside the Magic” tonight on FOX Sports Florida. (FOX Sports)

Goodbye, ReStore. Habitat for Humanity just announced their plan to close their two Orlando and Osceola Country ReStore locations in and discontinue their retail line. Why? The nonprofit plans to switch their focus to providing affordable housing — catch the two locations’ big sales before they officially close their doors in January. (Bungalower)

This garden’s gonna rock. Disney has officially announced the partial lineup for the annual Garden Rocks concert series, which takes place at the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival this spring. Among the 270 concerts set to take place this year are TobyMac, Sister Sledge and Simple Plan. (Orlando Sentinel)

Are you a match? A 2-year-old Florida girl with an extremely rare blood type is fighting cancer, and OneBlood is leading a worldwide search to locate blood donors. With only three matching donors identified thus far, the organization is on the hunt. Learn more about donor criterion here. (Orlando Weekly)
