Each week we shine a spotlight on our members in an effort to further connect our community and support each others’ passion projects. Today, we’re introducing you to Kristine Palkowetz.
What neighborhood do you call home? Baldwin Park
Where in town might people run into you? I’m a sucker for the Clermont-based Golden Hills coffee at Sanctum Cafe and Tutto Cafe. And being the foodie that I am, you might also find me at Osprey Tavern, Black Rooster, East End Market, the list goes on… our Orlando food scene is ahhhmazing!
What made you decide to become a member of Pulptown? As a former Seattle girl, I was a fan of The Evergrey (Pulptown’s sister publication), and I’m so glad to see Orlando having its own spin. I love seeing what’s happening in our Orlando community — shout out to Katie and her team for doing such a phenomenal job!
What’s something you’re working on — in big ways or small — that you could use help with? I’m an avid baker and recipe developer, so I’m always looking for taste testers. 😉 Also, I did recently buy a ukelele (I’ve wanted one for years) and I could use some help getting the hang of it!
What local business do you think deserves a shoutout (and why)? Tisha Camp and The Powder Room (located inside of The Lovely). This hardworking, single mom is my skin guru. Aside from being incredibly talented in her work, she is a beautiful person inside and out and makes everyone feel special and beautiful when they come through the door of The Powder Room. Treat your mom, your sister, your friend, YOURSELF, just go 😉 You’ll love the experience!
What’s a local event you went to recently that you loved? Beard in Baldwin is by far my favorite Orlando event. Jason Chin (The Osprey Tavern, Seito Sushi, Reyes) does a phenomenal job curating some exceptional chefs to put on an amazing night of excellent food, drinks and entertainment. This is not your ordinary food and wine event, Beard in Baldwin sets the bar MUCH higher.
What are you celebrating in your life right now? It’s a new chapter entirely — new career, new home, newly single. I’m celebrating a new kind of wonderful.
