đŸ„‘ Healin’ Guts and Shakin’ Butts

It’s been a month since we all kicked off those New Year’s resolutions, and I’ve got to say, the struggle is still real.

As finding good healthcare resources is always on my mind as someone with some chronic health battles, we are diving deep into community resources to help us heal together in an upcoming newsletter. To kick off the series, we’ve got a brand new take for ya with a longtime Pulptown friend, Hannah Alyward, who a few years back helped us scout out some of the best places to chow down and stay healthy in Orlando.

We are partnering up Hannah to share resources, so keep an eye open for future giveaways and inside access to some of her programs as we take part in her Healin’ Guts + Shakin’ Butts program, providing an inside look at a process designed “for people that have been struggling with chronic digestive issues that negatively impact their daily lives, despite being told that ‘everything looks normal.”

“Inside of Healin’ Guts + Shakin’ Butts,” writes Hannah, “we work to transform your gut so you can no longer struggle with chronic digestive issues like never ending bloating, constipation, food sensitivities and food fear. We take a root-cause approach and support the body’s underlying physiology through proper nutrition, functional lab testing, and strategic lifestyle adjustments.”

But we are getting ahead of ourselves, more on that at the end of today. First, let’s get to know the person behind the program! Take it away, Hannah!

Hi Hannah! l Tag either #pulptown or @pulptown to be featured. (📾:@hannahaylwardhhc)

Tell our readers: Who are you? What do you do?

I’m Hannah Aylward, the CEO, Founder and Head Health Coach at HAN. HAN is a root-cause, holistic health company that helps people all over the world overcome chronic digestive issues. We specialize in functional health and getting to the root cause of health issues so people can sustainably thrive! Our bread and butter is IBS, chronic bloating, constipation, GI issues, food sensitivities, and reflux — ya know, the cute stuff! But when you take a functional approach, you look at the body as a whole, so we also work with a lot of women with thyroid, adrenal, hormone and skin issues as well. It’s all connected 😉

Wax poetic for a second and tell us: what brings you most alive about this city?

Honestly, you have access to pretty much everything. You can live many different lives in Orlando, which is something you don’t really notice until you leave. Orlando has a little bit of everything. You can’t find that everywhere. It’s big enough to meet new people, and small enough to feel familiar and build community.

What’s your favorite Orlando memory?

I was born and raised in Winter Park, so it’s always family time. I love my family so dearly.

If you could eat only one meal from a local restaurant for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Tacos from Black Rooster! Specifically the fish taco and chicken tinga taco. I want one of both plus a salad and a side of black beans. Give me all of it! I order Black Rooster probably once a week and it’s some of the best food I’ve ever had. Takeout on a Saturday night with good company feels very much like home.

Outside of the obvious stop above, share your other top three destinations for where you’d go on your perfect Orlando day.

A long walk in Winter Park along the lakes and underneath the trees, coffee at New General or Lineage, and honestly, an infrared sauna session at Perspire Sauna Studio in WP (but you’re talking to a health girl here!). Reyes for a margarita is a close runner-up!

Just Hannah being Hannah with her essentials. l Tag either #pulptown or @pulptown to be featured. (📾:@hannahaylwardhhc)

What’s your favorite local social media account to follow (besides Pulptown, naturally) and why?

Orlando Bungalower! I feel like they always get sent the *real* stuff from Orlando locals.

If you could give any one piece of advice to locals, what would it be?

Get out first thing in the morning in the summer. If you don’t get out before 11 a.m., then you’ve missed your chance until about 8:30 p.m.

What’s an unpopular opinion you have about the city?

Downtown is the least exciting area of the whole city. The magic is in the little areas throughout the city.

What are you most looking forward to this year?

LOTS of self care, traveling around the world, growing my business and expanding my mission, and really getting clear on what is most important to me in life.

☝ One more thing

Clearly Hannah has been staying as busy as ever creating an entire practice around addressing the root of the problem many face while suffering from chronic digestive issues. I’ve personally tried quite a few programs with very little success, and hers was the first that sparked what seems like a real chance for change. As the Pulptown Orlando guinea pig, I’ll be sharing some experience of what the program’s like and how it’s helping over the course of the next several months.

Favorable flavors so far:

The intake process is very detailed, the GI Mapping kit is not hard as you’d think to manage, and the benefit of having a team behind you makes a huge difference.

I’m just cracking into all the module studies and I’ll have more to share, like what it means to open “drainage pathways, bringing in polyphenol and prebiotic rich foods to help reestablish a healthy gut microbiome, and optimizing blood sugar levels.” Oh ya, did I mention this program is detailed?
