Did you know? The fashion industry contributes to 1/10 of the world’s carbon emissions — a number greater than all international flights and maritime shipping combined. Eek. It’s a good thing we have so many local people and shops that are good to the planet, help us live affordably, empower Orlandoans to find their own unique style, and make our city a better place all around. Amirite?
Whether you’re on a mission to find something specific or just there for the bargain hunt, there’s something for everyone at a thrift store. (And Orlando’s got options.) Thrifting is not only good for your wallet, but also good for the earth and good for local businesses.
If you’re on a strict budget and have the time to really perfect the art of thrifting — aka do some sorting — try OMG! Thrift in Casselberry, Community Thrift in Edgewood, and the Goodwill on Orange Blossom Trail.
Wanna shop frugally and simultaneously give back to the community? Shop Out of the Closet. The Mills 50 consignment shop doubles as a pharmacy, LGBTQ+ advocate, and free HIV-testing site.
Looking for the most perfect rattan set or unique bar cart that won’t break the bank? Go to Warehaus in College Park, The Boho Bedside online, or Echoes of Retro in Ivanhoe.
On the hunt for chic mid-century decor AND vintage boutique clothing? Peruse The Owl’s Attic and The Lovely Boutique in Audubon Park and my all-time favorite, Etoile Boutique in The Milk District.
For an additional wardrobe pick-me-up, head to Avalon Exchange in Winter Park, Revel Beauty in Audubon Park to shop Retromended’s pop-up, Dechoes Resale in College Park, and The House on Lang in Mills 50 (<– I’m gonna need my credit card for all the things I want here!).
